Harold Porter Botanical Garden, Betty’s Bay offers holiday concerts in a magical venue
No holiday in the Western Cape would be complete without visiting the Harold Porter Botanical Garden in Betty’s Bay. Here, where the mountains and the sea meet, visitors can enjoy rolling lawns, a plethora of Cape fynbos, breath-taking scenery and a tranquillity that feeds the soul. A naturally formed amphitheatre nestling under the mountains has also become a sought after venue for a special concerts.
For the last few years the Garden has hosted a short series of concerts over the December /January holiday season and once more visitors will be able to enjoy some of our top musicians in this magical venue. Four concerts end the old year and bring in the new so plan your diary accordingly for these events.
Saturday 20th December sees The Delft Big Band strike their chords for a wonderful evening of music of all genres with the talented youngsters who make up this popular band. On Monday 22 December light a candle and enjoy Carols by Candleight.
This community project features young people from the Narrative Foundation's (NF) music development programme with talented musicians from the area. Just after Christmas, on Sunday 28 December, Afrikaans singer and actor AnthonieBougas will add a little more soul to the scene.
Finally, as the first concert in the New Year on Saturday 3 January 2015 our magnificent Gugulethu Tenors set the mountains ringing with Afro -Opera that is thrilling audiences worldwide.
