The skies are blue, the sun warm. The mood is light, and the holiday spirit everywhere – it’s now when one hopes to do all those fun things one dreamt about whilst surviving week upon week of 9 to 5.
But strangely enough – there just never seems to be enough hours of sunlight in a day, and before you know it, all you’ve been doing is shopping for presents you can’t afford, for people who don’t really want what you gave them. Not to mention those get-togethers where you end up eating and drinking too much. Then to make things worse – you wake up the next morning much later than planned, and another training session goes out the window.
Well, perhaps that’s a little exaggerated – but this all resonates doesn’t it?
The secret to surviving the Festive Season is to have a goal – a little something far enough into the new year (but not too far) and scary enough (but not too scary) to get you excited and keep you motivated. And here is just the thing…
Be the first. Enter WTS Cape Town!
The International Triathlon Union’s World Triathlon Series is coming to Cape Town - for the first time ever on African soil.
Cape Town will host the world’s Elites, showcasing their talents against South Africa’s best, and the event will be broadcast to the world. It’s an Olympic sport, of swim, bike and run raced over a 1500m swim, a 40Km cycle and a 10K run. And the best part? It’s not exclusive to the Elites – anyone can enter – yes – you too.
Of course you don’t have to do the full Standard distance, or race as an individual. You can do it as part of a team. You could do the Sprint distance of a 500m swim (you do that in the bath) follow that with a 20Km cycle (that spin class you do at gym? That’s all it takes) and finish off with a 5Km run (that’s the equivalent of 30 minutes on a treadmill). How hard can it be?
It will be a Festival of Triathlon in the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town from 26, 27 April 2014. Table Mountain will provide an iconic backdrop, in and alongside the deep blue Atlantic playground. Spectator friendly routes and road closure for the participants from Elite to veteran to weekend warrior to triathlon newbie – individual or team
Entries opened on Tuesday 17th December 2014 and the place to go for entries and all the info is http://www.capetown.triathlon.org/
