Established in 2005, the BEF is a voluntary association that aims to motivate and encourage students in the Botriver community to study in the fields of engineering, accounting and medicine.
“The BEF is about academic success for students within the organization,” says Anthony Hess, BEF Coordinator. “The foundation sees mentoring as a multi-faceted development tool. We take the pupils from as early as Grade 8 and nurture them through their schooling career and hopefully into an institution of higher learning. Our mission is to develop a community to one day see at least one graduate in each household in Botriver. The BEF is also about human development, about developing a community as a whole, about community involvement and ownership. The financial assistance received from W2W helps us with transport cost, accommodation, registration and educational excursions.”
“We are proud to be able to assist the BEF in making a difference in the lives of the youth of Botriver and its surrounding areas,” says Johan Kriegler, FNB W2W MTB Director. “The BEF’s objective is to assist pupils who show an academic drive and potential, to further their studies at Universities and colleges. Born and bred in Botriver, Dr Anthony Hess has a passion for facilitating better lives with better education. FNB W2W is proud to be associated with this initiative.”
The BEF’s annual fund raising event, the Botrivier Van Der Stel Pass Challenge will take place on 23 and 24 October 2015.
