2013 WILDCOAST WILDRUN ENTRY
Entry for 2013 is limited to 80 solo runners on each departure.
The entry fee for 2013 Wildcoast Wildrun is R6,900.00 (see below for includes/excludes). [PLEASE NOTE: The cost includes 4 NIGHTS accommodation and all your meals starting with dinner after the briefing]. Pre-entry only. NOTE: in 2013 we will be using a new online system and not the previous system of downloading a pdf entry form. The online system is simple and straightforward and does not require any printing, faxing, emailing etc. Entries will automatically close when full, and a waiting list will then be available. The waiting list will be managed in order of entries received. For more details on the Wildcoast Wildrun 2013 entry process, please see further information below.
DATES:
There are two Wildcoast Wildrun ‘departures’ one week apart, the first is the ‘Journey’ and the second the ‘Race’. If you are racing you need to enter the SECOND one (not exclusive to racing snakes, but this is the racing version of the two). If you are running to experience the Wildcoast Wildrun journey, with ‘racing’ not a priority, then enter either.
Wildcoast Wildrun 2 (Race)*
19th - 21st September 2013 (Thurs-Sat)
Registration on evening of the 18th (Wed)
[*Racing vs journey: Both departures are identical in terms of what you get, with the exception that the 'racing' version will be televised on Supersport. Times from both Wildcoast Wildrun departures will NOT be compared to determine an overall winner, and ONLY the 'Race' departure will be the focus for racing for the Wildcoast Wildrun trophy.]

RACE DAY
The route is unmarked bar the start and finish areas. Simply follow the coastline until you reach the finish of each day.
Runners must carry water and nutrition for the duration of each day’s run. There will be one water-table/checkpoint en route per day only. Local communities may provide drinks (for sale) at various accessible venues en route, but this is unreliable.
A race sweeper will follow the last runner and will be in radio contact with the organizers.
There will be two dedicated event medics on standby in the even of an emergency.
Race cut-off is at a predetermined point on each day, and is only enforced for your own safety – i.e. to avoid crossing a river in the dark. Times will be given in the Wildrun briefing.
If you withdraw from the race it is your responsibility to inform the organizers as soon as possible, failure to do so could result in an extensive and costly man hunt.
If you withdraw from the Wildrun without requiring medical attention, we will assist, where possible, in transporting you to each day’s venue until the finish venue only.
The Wildrun will be timed and results posted daily.
Overall results are based on an accumulative time.

FRIENDS AND FAMILY
The reason the Wildrun is small is because we fill the hotels we use to the max. In some situations there are double beds that are only being occupied by one runner, and so we can in some situations make a plan – BUT there are no guarantees and if we say there is no space then unfortunately you will need to make your own plan at an alternative accommodation (where possible). Kei Mouth and Coffee Bay are no problem, but the two nights in between are very very limited, so worst case scenario you spend two nights at Coffee Bay to watch the finish.
Friends & family are welcome to follow the Wildrun, however the hotels and accommodation along the way are reserved for runners & crew as priority.
We will assist where possible, and any travel & accommodation arrangements will need to be paid up front.
Runner accommodation will only be allocated with other runners, if you make other arrangements that is for your account and no refund will be given.
RUNNER COMMUNICATION
Runner communication will be by email and via updates to this website only.
If you are on Facebook, feel free to join the Wildrun Facebook page.
Directions, pre-race accommodation lists and service providers will be published online closer to the time.
Results will be posted daily.
WILDERNESS ETIQUETTE
Take only memories and leave only footprints – please don’t leave any litter or take any souvenirs.
If you need to do a number 2, do it somewhere private, dig a small hole (15cm) and bury your waste.
Be friendly and courteous to the local people, it’s their land.
When you are in nature reserves be on the look out for – and avoid harassing – the wildlife.
