Some South African music superstars and top skateboarders from around the world will be in action during the Kimberley Diamond Cup skateboarding world championships presented by Kumba Iron Ore, a business unit of Anglo American, from 7 – 10 October in Kimberley, Northern Cape.
In addition to non-stop skateboarding by the best skateboarders in the world such as Nyjah Huston, Kelvin Hoefler and Luan Oliviera, this year’s Kimberley Diamond Cup also features a concert line-up with some of South Africa’s chart-topping hip-hop and rap artists.
The opening ceremony starts on Thursday, 8 October, from 19h45 at the Kumba Skate Plaza and will include an exciting line-up of local dance acts, performances and a top DJ on the decks.
Headlining on Friday night is Khuli Chana, recently voted best newcomer at the MTV Africa Music Awards. The entertainment on the main stage from 21h00 will be provided by Kimberley born actor and rapper Psyfo, the incredible HHP and local acts from the Northern Cape.
Saturday’s closing ceremony starts from 21h00 and includes a fireworks display and sizzling performances by Psyfo, 5FM DJ Nicole Da Silvav, DJ Ready D and Riky Rick leading up to the headline performance by K.O. 5FM duo Forbes and Fix will close down the night.
Concert entry is included in the weekend pass for the Kimberley Diamond Cup, which is available at R75 from Computicket or at the ticket office at the Kumba Skate Plaza. The village adjacent to the skate park is open to the public with live performances and vendor stands.
