Brand new for 2014 in the MTN National MTB Series Driven by NISSAN is Van Gaalen. The Van Gaalen trails have built up quite a reputation over the years as being the hardest event in the NISSAN Trailseeker series. We felt it has graduated to qualify as a National status event for 2014.
Van Gaalen is arguably the hardest mountain bike race in the area but also offers some of the most thrilling and enjoyable handbuilt trails around! Van Gaalen has over the last 6 years built a seemingly endless amount of trails that snakes over the Magalies, through ravines and gorges, along sweet contours, and carves absolutely sick lines along the river banks.
The event will showcase a combination of the best of mountain biking that Van Gaalens has to offer. Spread over two days congestion on route is a thing of the past with the Ultra and Marathon on the Saturday and the Half Marathon and fun races ont he Sunday, you can opt in to do both days and truly explore the Magalies area!

Brand new 10km route, giving youngsters a taster of mountain biking and what Rooiberg has to offer.
The 20 km is made with fun in mind, as it should be the ideal launch pad for beginners and kids.
The 46 km route is mostly fast riding with the one major climb and loose rock.
The 75 km route is more challenging with pure bushveld climbing and the most pristine hand build single tracks that both mountain bike junkies can appreciate and enjoy!
The 105km Ultra is for the absolute brave and serious riders; this one will be one to remember and not to be taken lightly. Challenging steep climbs rewarded with superb hand built single track over 110km is no easy task but major challenge followed by un challenged bragging rights.
