KG Montjane supports Reach for a Dream’s Slipper Day
Words: Bianca Morkel
South Africa’s no.1 wheelchair woman’s player, Kgothatso (KG) Montjane, loves the “Slipper Day” initiative by Reach for a Dream. KG enjoys relaxing and keeping warm in her slippers whilst catching up on her email and social media. Kg recently wheeled away with the Swiss Open ladies singles title and is currently ranked no.6 in the world. Earlier in June KG was also honoured as “Gauteng’s Sportswoman of the year with a Disability”.
With no less than 29 titles KG is constantly reaching for her dream -to be ranked in the top 3 in the world. KG was born with a congenital birth defect leaving her no alternative but to have her left leg amputated below the knee. KG refused to let this hold her back, or prevent her from dreaming. She would like to encourage all South Africans to support this initiative. “It is such an uplifting and inspiring initiative to support kids and adults fighting life threatening diseases, giving them the opportunity to fulfill their dreams. With every South African assisting and supporting there will be no impossible dreams”
Wheelchair Tennis SA would like to thank our official sponsor Airports Company South Africa for assisting and supporting the wheelchair tennis players to achieve their dreams. Participation in local and international events is made possible by the generous sponsorship from Airports Company South Africa, the official sponsor of the sport in South Africa.
