DO IT NOW Magazine goes digital
DO IT NOW Magazine
There has been an ongoing debate around print versus digital at DO IT NOW Magazine for some time now. Although print is the conventional way to read a magazine, it is also bound by printing and distribution timelines, which result in the stories not being immediately available to readers. Whereas digital, also the eco-friendly option and available on numerous electronic platforms, will provide our various audiences with a more current and interactive experience. In addition, it allows for a more beautiful design, smarter journalism, and value-added advertising opportunities for clients. Based on this, we have taken the decision to convert DO IT NOW Magazine to a fully digital format.
The July issue was the final print copy of DO IT NOW Magazine. From 1 August 2013, the now weekly DO IT NOW Magazine articles are free and published on the website (www.doitnow.co.za) on Fridays. The compilation of adventure, sport, and lifestyle articles is available monthly as a complete magazine on the website and app (Apple and Android platforms), which can be downloaded for free.
Says Francois Flamengo, founder of DO IT NOW Magazine, "Our vision for the magazine has been to drive expansion by developing a 360-degree, multi-platform approach where current content extends beyond print into digital and mobile to truly engage our various audiences. And in a world where instant gratification is key, the new and fully digital route will bring the content to life in a whole new way, thus ensuring that our audience receives the very latest news, views, and entertainment 'hot off the press', and they can choose to read it their way.”
In addition to providing more current content, readers will have the option of reading the magazine in the way they want, whilst doing their bit for the environment.
1. Weekly digital PDF articles for desktops, smartphones and tablets. Top features include a pageable magazine-styled format with live links and video content.
2. Weekly plain text articles for desktops, smartphones and tablets. Features include plain text articles with interactive links, photo galleries and video content (where relevant).
3. Monthly interactive DO IT NOW Magazine app for tablets and smartphones (Apple and Android devices). Top features include creative layout with video content, live links, additional information, photographs, and search functionality.
Readers can also choose to receive the weekly articles and all the latest news in their inbox every Friday, by subscribing to the dinFO weekly newsletter online.
Concluded Flamengo, "The DO IT NOW team strives to provide the latest high-quality adventure, sport, and lifestyle information on an ongoing basis, while reducing our carbon footprint. What better way to achieve this goal than by offering dynamic, weekly web-based articles and a monthly application-based magazine, constantly evolving website, weekly media report, dedicated YouTube channel, and vibey social media platforms.”
All current print subscribers have been notified of the changes, but should any subscriber need to contact us with regards to their subscription, please email or for general information, .
