FEEDBACK

Diamond Dash Nov 2011
It was a splendid day out in the bushveld this weekend at Goodland Estate where trail runners once again set out on the brand new Diamond Dash Trails. A stiff koppie climb kicked off the 10km and 17km events - welcome to trail running! The rest of the course meandered through the Seringveld bushveld and green trails of this magnificent area. The camera was there to capture the best moments and will be broadcasted on Supersport. What a winner! ...read more

REPORTS
> OTTER AFRICAN TRAIL RUN
I quickly learnt why the OTTER African Trail Run has been dubbed 'The Grail of Trail' by local organisers Magnetic South. This splendid coastal run passes through the beaches and sea cliffs from Storms River Mouth to the tranquil little village of Nature's Valley. This will undoubtedly soon become one of the most sought-after trail runs on Planet Earth.

Perfect weather saw the runners set off along the Otter singletrack shortly after sunrise, with the front bunch consisting of the big guns in the men's race. With eight what the organizers call 'significant climbs', the OTTER is one of the most treacherous trail runs in the country. The Otter is unique in the sense that there is only one route with no chances of taking a detour, unless you want to do an extra day's running and the fact that there the entire route is a trail in the true sense of the word. In the end, Ryan Sandes' superb class was just too good for the rest of the field as he dashed across the floating bridge to the finish in an incredible time of 4hrs 40min, breaking the current record by more than 7min. A strong ladiesŐ field saw Su Don-Wauchope victorious over Robyn Ferrar, with Landie Visser claiming a close, well-deserved third place. Christiaan Greyling, Do It Now Ambassador, also finished a strong 9th position in the open men's category. The Otter is an unbelievable adventure with memories that will last a lifetime.

Men: 1. Ryan Sandes 4.40.15 | 2. Bruce Arnett 4.51.51 | 3. Victor Gugushe 4.53.57
Women: 1. Su Don-Wauchope 5.39.42 | 2. Robyn Ferrar 5.44.52 | 3. Landie Visser 5.47.00
