Thrombi XFest 2016

Held on the beautiful Umzimkulu River near Underberg, Kwazulu Natal, this is the biggest whitewater kayaking event in South Africa, featuring head-to-head kayak and SUP racing down class II-IV whitewater, downriver freestyle off a 9 m waterfall and a social paddle.  The spectator-friendly venue and superb whitewater makes this one of the premier events on the South African kayaking circuit. Since 2013, the event has raised over R 14,000 for Pevency Place, a facility for adults with cerebral palsy near Underberg.

 

In 2016 the event will be held on the 23rd and 24th of January, the same weekend as the Drak Challenge, and some logistics will be shared with this event. For more info on the Drak see www.drak.co.za.

09h00 to 10h00: Heats - Open Men, Ladies, Juniors and Beginner Men

10h00 to 11h00: 2nd round heats/semifinals - Open Men

11h00 to 11h30: Finals - Ladies, Juniors, Beginner Men

11h30 to 12h00: Finals - Open Men

12h00 to 13h00: SUP racing (all categories)

14h00 to 17h00: Trip down to the falls & down-river freestyle

20h00 - Prizegiving at Underberg School, followed by a party

Entry for the kayaking event is R350. Only entries paid before 19 December 2015 get a limited edition Thrombi X-Fest cap. Please contact us for the entry form and to arrange an EFT payment.
