If you are into old school rock and roll, then Mazirlou and the Rockabilly Rebels, Durban’s newest rockabilly band, is just for you. Formed in 2014 by ace guitarist Andy Turrell, it includes the dynamic Marion Loudon on vocals, the talented Jill Murray Brown on Bass Guitar as well as trying her hand on the Upright Bass, and the legendary Francois Hardy on drums and vocals.

Rockabilly music is timeless and has recently seen a massive worldwide revival by a new generation of young musicians who love the rough edged country rock sounds of the 50’s.
This year’s KwaZulu-Natal South Coast Lion’s Show, as part of the action packed Sardine Festival, will be taking place in July and has managed to secure Mazirlou and the Rockabilly Rebels for an all-rocking and jiving evening performance.
Expect to hear all the great rockabilly hits such as Train Kept a Rollin, That’s Alright, Rock Around the Clock, Folsom Prison Blues, Be Bop A Lula and Mystery Train. This unique music is far from a `thing of the past’. It is alive today more than ever. The same driving guitar licks, frantic vocals, stand-up bass slap and heavy snare drum backbeat are still as appealing today as they were in the 50’s.
Mazirlou and the Rockabilly Rebels will perform live in the Lions Entertainment tent at the 2015 South Coast Lions Show on Friday 10th July from 7pm and says one of the organizers, Mr Denis Meyer `This is only just the beginning. This year’s show is really set to impress – the lineup of activities and exhibitors is hugely exciting. There are some of the trusty favourites and some hot new additions to the show, so we encourage you to diarise the event dates now - 9-11th July 2015. The bands and music alone are reason enough to pack your bags and stay on the South Coast for the weekend, never mind the action packed agenda over the weekend’.
In support of the greater South Coast community and the positive tourism spin-offs that this show generates, Ugu South Coast Tourism has proudly partnered with the Lions Show once again.
There is no cover charge to attend the concert however visitors will be charged normal entry at the main gate which allows them access to the entire show for the day. For more information please contact Denis Meyer on
