USN brings you the Fifth Round of the MTB Cup 2013 Series
Words: Fiona Mbalula
Mountain bikers can look forward to yet another action-packed racing experience during the fifth round of the 2013 Ultimate Sports Nutrition (USN) MTB Cup Series. This popular event takes place at the Big Red Barn, a farm in Sunlawns Estate, Olifantsfontein on Saturday, 03 August 2013 from 8:00am.
The race caters for all family members. Cyclists have three different race options – 10km, 30km, 50km and a 1km race for the kids.
Andrew Grobler, race director and event organiser says, “This route was recently upgraded to provide riders with a great riding experience, and it has lived up to our expectations. We are very excited to announce that we have a brand new route planned for this event and cannot wait to see mountain biking enthusiasts battle it out for the top spot in the second last leg of this year’s race.”
Current leaders of the series, namely Arno Du Toit (ASG Pinarello) (men) and Yolandi Du Toit (Bizhub) (ladies), Ben-Melt Swanepoel (Merida), Jan Withaar (Cycle lab), Paul Cordes (ASG Pinarello), Yolande Speedy (ASG Pinarello) and Rowan Grobler (USN)(2012 Series winner), are also expected to line up for the 50km race.
“New timers and a new seeding system have been introduced for this event, courtesy of Live Time and SASeeding. All riders that are not registered with SASeeding will need to purchase an SAS-Timing Board on the day of the race in order to be timed. This board will now be owned by the rider and can be used at any SASeeding event in the future”.
“We will also have an extra registration day at Epic Sports Cycle Shop in Centurion on Friday, 02 August to ease congestion on the morning of the race”, adds Grobler.
