Twin Boats to Launch Its Sensation 30 Off-Shore Craft at the Johannesburg Boat Show
Words & Photos: Outdoor Lifestyle Show
Twin Boats, the Midvaal-based boat builders, will debut their breath-taking new 30-foot off-shore boat, The Sensation 30, at the Johannesburg Boat Show at the Nasrec Expo Centre on August 8-11.
According to Twin Boats’ Andre van Helsdingen, there are three things that make the new Sensation 30 ultra-special:
• It is constructed with a new vacuum-infusion technique, which means it is extremely light for such a large craft
• It is extremely spacious inside and on the outer decks
• And for a boat of this size it is extremely affordable. The boat to be exhibited at The Johannesburg Boat Show will cost R950 000, whereas as most boats in this class cost well in excess of R1-million
“The light weight means there is much less drag and this mean a very low fuel consumption,” says Van Helsdingen.
“It is difficult to set a fixed price on the Sensation 30. But our show example includes a Garmin navigation and fish-finding system with a 12-inch screen, and the value of this system alone is R100 000.
“The vacuum-infused resin construction means that not only is the boat light but it is ultra-strong. The Sensation 30 we are showing is the off-shore version and this will be equipped with a pair of 200 horsepower engines. Customers can specify their own engines according to their preference,” says Van Helsdingen.
Apart from the Sensation 30 which will take centre stage of the Twin Boats stand, there will be a full range of the manufacturers boats on display from 17-foot entry-level craft right up to the 30 foot boat.
“As far as this year’s show goes,” says Andre, “it is extremely positive that SAMSA, the South African Maritime Safety Association, is on board. And I must say that leading up to the show, I haven’t felt such a positive buzz from customers in a very long time. The industry is picking up and coming alive.
“I love the idea that the show is early in August, it gives the public time to make their buying decisions after visiting the show. And the fact that the show is being held over an extra day on a long weekend simply kicks off the summer the right way.”
The Johannesburg Boat Show will run at Nasrec Expo Centre, South of Johannesburg, between August 8 to 11, 2013, and will be co-located with the AMID Motorcycle Show and the Outdoor Lifestyle Show.
