Elvis Blue on the Open Road
Elvis Blue, the platinum-selling musician and SAMA-award winner for Best Adult Contemporary Album, just returned from his incredible bike-tour of the Eastern and Western Cape. Blue decided to take this trip as a short break before the upcoming release of his new album, Journey.
Blue was named the official brand ambassador for Bavarian Motorcycles, an approved BMW Motorcycle Dealership (Centurion) in 2011, and as part of this ongoing relationship with Blue, the team at Bavarian Motorcycles decided to help him let his hair down a bit and get out on the open road.
They arranged a fantastic BMW R1200 GS Adventure motorcycle to be his rocking mode of transport on the trip, which kicked off on 28th of May and saw Elvis’ safe return to Johannesburg on the 1st of June. “We wanted Elvis to experience the thrill of an open road experience on this motorcycle – it is not something that can be explained in words, it’s something that has to be experienced,” said Sharon Smith of Bavarian Motorcycles.
Elvis Blue and his wife, Chireze, gladly strapped on their helmets and embarked on what was most definitely the trip of a lifetime. The trip started off in Graaf-Reinet and took Elvis and Chireze on a scenic route of Willomore, Klaarstroom, Oudtshoorn, George, Knysna, Stormsrivier and Nature’s Valley.
“This was a wonderful opportunity for Chireze and I to spend some quality time together. I have been hard at work on my new album – this trip was the perfect way to spend time together while having fun and catching up with family and friends – we lived in George for a few years, so we couldn’t wait to get on that motorcycle,” an exuberant Blue explained upon their return to Johannesburg. “The team at Bavarian Motorcycles have been great as well – helping us plan the trip, organising the awesome bike and making us feel like family. We hope to keep doing great things together in the future.”
Elvis Blue is currently preparing for the release of his new album, Journey, that will be on shelves on the 13th of July.
